Christopher TS #6

On January 30th, Do Jun and I had our sixth tutoring session. We talked about the difference between North and South Korea. I asked him about what the general feeling in South Korea in relation to the North. Are they afraid? Are they angry? Do they want unification? The most interesting and shocking fact he gave me was that it is the older generation that has the desire for unification. I would have thought that the younger generation, typically more liberal and progressive, would have been the one desiring unification. Do Jun made a good point, however, that the older generation had experienced a unified Korea while the younger generation grew up with a very firm distinction between cultures. The younger generation sees them as separate and almost improbable to coexist. Just another interesting insight into culture through the eyes of Do Jun!
