Jessica: CO #2

The second class that I observed was 3A’s Reading class taught by Ryan Flemming. The topic that was being discussed was an article that they had started reading for homework. He started out the discussion by asking for opinions on the main idea of the article as well as looking for new vocabulary words that are not understood. As a class, they went over a review of the questions asked yesterday. Once that was finished, Professor Flemming introduced a new reading for them to start for homework. Two things that I took away from his class are:

  • Introduce new readings in multiple steps in order to not overwhelm students
  • Always ask if they have questions or if they would like to know more information
