Michael TS#14-15

In this session, Renata and I actually did two hours of tutoring because she couldn't meet on Thursday. We first went over some exercises and examples in her TOEFL practice book as she is trying to take the test in the next few months. We mostly went over her speaking and reading skills by going over model dialogues together. These exercises helped Renata read and speak faster, but also helped us point out any pronunciation mistakes she has with any of the words. Anytime I noticed an issue with pronunciation we would go over the words slowly until she got it then go on to the next piece of dialogue. This turn taking between Renata and I speaking also gave her a little time to look over what she would be saying next. For the second part of the tutoring session we went over some things that Renata said she was a little rusty on and wanted to go over. We went over all of the tenses in a mainly verbal way as she is trying to improve her speaking. Similarly to her practice book, we would talk about a tense and I would have her give me spoken example in which I wrote down and we went over. This was also a great pronunciation exercise as we were able to go over any mistakes and fix them on the spot. Renata is excelling in her learning at a fast rate and I believe that she will do great on the TOEFL with more practice!
