Jessica: TS #1

During the first tutoring session with Seokbin Kang we concentrated on getting to know each other and different ways we can communicate effectively. We discussed where we were from and different things that we liked. I learned that he lives in Seoul, South Korea. He is 34 and married. He met his wife, Choi, through their shared schooling experience. We discussed his government job and his likes and dislikes regarding it. I shared my FSU college experience and how much I enjoyed living in Tallahassee despite how far away I am from my family. Both Seokbin and I connected over our homesick feelings regarding missing our families. However, we both agreed that being far away from our home allowed us to experience so much more than what we would have back home. Seokbin talked about his job in this aspect. He said that he viewed coming and studying in America as a vacation and was enjoying his time off. He is extremely motivated to work on his conversational english/productive use of the language rather than receptive skills.
