Mengmeng and I met for our final tutoring sessions on Friday, 2/14, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
We covered speaking skills, listening skills, and writing skills. We began the lesson with a quick warm-up game of Hangman (which Mengmeng has gotten much better at compared to when we first started) and then dove right into our conversation topic questions.
Mengmeng spoke for the majority of both lessons. I only needed to jump in rarely (to ask the next question or to make minor corrections, respectively). When I did speak for longer than a minute or two, Mengmeng practiced her listening skills, asked follow-up questions, and expanded upon my ideas.
Finally, Mengmeng thanked me for helping her for the past few weeks, and I thanked her for helping me improve my confidence in my teaching abilities. I bought her coffee and she—very thoughtfully—gifted me with some authentic Chinese tea :)
