This Monday, I met with my tutee Kubra. We went over new IELTS vocabulary words. I first started helping her with the words by making sure she pronounced them accurately. Kubra usually mixes the sound that w makes with a v sound, or mispronounces some vowel sounds, therefore, we mainly worked in those areas. We next, focused on finding the definition of the word. After finding the definition she usually finds a sentence online that uses it in context. If she still does not understand the word use, I then explain it to her with other examples. Finally, she comes up with her own sentence using the word to make sure she understands its use. We did this method with each word, then she made a short story using all the words that I would review in our next session.
