  Similar to the other tutoring sessions, I provided Mohammed with a hand-out with multiple reading passages.  One of the passages had fill-in-the-blanks where he had to pick the correct form of a word that fit in the blanks.   He did very well on this portion of the assignment.  The next part that we did was another reading passage.  With this passage, I asked him to read it out loud and to underline any words that he didn't understand.  I gave him the definitions of the words he didn't know and used them in a sentence so that he could understand them better.  After, I asked him to use each of the words in a sentence, and then I corrected his grammar and spelling mistakes and explained to him why they were wrong.  The last thing he did was proofread the final reading passage.  He did fairly well on this portion.  There were some things he did not understand, but I made sure to explain to him why they were the way they were.
