'Spelling & Definitions'

  The last thing that I covered with Mohammed in this tutoring session was a spelling and definitions worksheet.  The worksheet consisted of an incorrect spelling form of a word and the directions asked him to correct the spelling and give the definition.  Mohammed is not very good at recognizing incorrect spelling.  He has shown this weakness is past exercises that I have used while I tutor him.  With this worksheet in particular, he got about half of the words correct and the others were wrong.  I did my best to explain to him how to sound out words so that he could spell better.  When asked what the definitions of the words were, he couldn't answer a few of them.  The ones he did not know were defined by me using an app on my phone.  After reviewing each spelling of the words and their meanings, I asked him to choose 5 of the words he did not know and write a sentence using them.  In the sentences, he did a fairly decent job using the word correctly.  However, he had a fair amount of grammar errors.  I corrected these as needed and explained why they were incorrect.
