Anthony CP#3

For our third meeting, Abdulaziz and I took a small trip to J.R. Alford Greenway, about 30 minutes away from FSU. On our first meeting, Abdulaziz told me how much he wanted to see the nature in Florida, and I told him that there are some beautiful nature sites all around Tallahassee. I chose this one first because it is the shortest distance away, and it is the most "tame" of all the locations. I picked him up from his place, and we drove to the Greenway. Upon arrival, visitors park on the edge of a massive green field, one where people ride horses or play fetch with their dogs. We walked along a trail into the woods next to the field. The trail leads to a wooden bridge and catwalk that sits high in the canopies of the trees, and it has a brilliant overlook on a lake/swamp that is adjacent to the field. Abdulaziz really enjoyed this place, because it had a little bit of everything: large sprawling oaks with their low hanging moss, thick marshland, opposed by a clear blue lake, and a multitude of different wildlife. I brought my binoculars so that he could get a better look at some of the animals we saw on our walk. We talked about all the recreational activities Floridians like to do in parks like this, as well as discussed some of the colloquial sayings around hiking and forest trails. It was a very enjoyable meeting, and I look forward to our next one.
