During the ninth session, we started the first half of the show Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt, to focus on picking up more slang when it’s used in context as well as hear different accents and variety of speaking speeds. Seokbin enjoyed the show and learned new phrases such as: that’s all who you know, beyoncé, all on my shoulders, lemonading. Once Seokbin heard a phrase that he did not understand, I explained it to him, and then he had the assignment to use it in a sentence that he created. While the phrases that he learned may not be used universally or are very popular, they are used within shows and provide schema for a character’s feelings.
