The next activity that I asked Mohammed to complete was a reading comprehension passage with discussion questions following the reading. Mohammed is an advanced CIES student, so I make sure to challenge his reading and speaking abilities with difficult reading passages. The reading passage I chose for him was another psychology article. This article discussed how the mind learns and acquires language after a certain age (very similar to what we had learned in the TEFL course). I asked Mohammed to read out loud the passage and I corrected any pronunciation errors and defined words and phrases that he did not recognize. I asked him at the end of the reading to recite a small summary of what he had read back to me. He did a good job. I provided him with 10 comprehension questions following the article and he only missed 1 question.
