Anthony TS#5
Ahmed and I met in Strozier library for my fifth tutoring session. He enjoyed the last lesson that centered on something he was interested in, so I decided to replicate that process with this lesson. This day, Ahmed was instructed to write about a movie scene, describing the main events in chronological order. I gave him the choice to write about a scene from The Dark Knight or Fast and Furious, and he chose the former. I gave him a little background on the film itself, and then had him watch it once without writing, and then on the second watch he began to write down what occurred in the video. He took about 30 minutes to write down the entirety of the scene, and after he was finished, we reviewed it together. For the remainder of the first hour, I provided feedback on his writing using a top-down approach, and I made recommendations on proper word choice and sentence structure. Through this process, Ahmed learned some new vocabulary that can be applied to many scenarios. After this, we went into the second hour, where I continued to provide feedback, this time using a bottom-up approach on grammar structures. (See next TS blog)
