On Tuesday, I met with my conversation partner Yunjia. We started the conversation by talking about some things going on in our lives. She told me about her husband and I told her about my school work and graduation problems. We also talked a bit about the virus in China and how it is impacting, her and her family. I also had an assignment in Chinese due soon and I told her about it. She offered to help me; and this is when we came up with the perfect English/ Chinese studying tactic. She realized that she knew how to explain the meaning of the Chinese word but didn't know the exact word in English. We came up with a plan that if I did not know a chines word, she would explain it to me in English and I would create a sentence or context in Chinese. For example, there was a word that basically meant sock in Chinese, but it was not an ordinary sock it was a knee high sock, she asked me what the different forms of socks in English are, and I explained the hierarchy from regular to pantyhose. We continued that system until our time was up.
